Service
Description Pokémon TCG authentication and grading have become an essential step for collectors to increase the value of their cards. The following briefly introduces several major authentication companies, including their profiles, fees, and processes, with a particular focus on BGS, CGC, JSA, and CCIC.

About Authentication Companies
PSA (Professional Sports Authenticator)

About: PSA is one of the most reputable authentication companies, specializing in assessing the authenticity and condition of various collectibles. For Pokémon cards, PSA provides a grading scale from 1 to 10, with 10 being "Gem Mint."

Fees: Depending on the value of the card and the service selected, fees range from tens to thousands of dollars.

BGS (Beckett Grading Services)

About: BGS is also a well-known authentication company, providing detailed grading reports that include assessments of center alignment, edges, corners, and surfaces.

Fees: BGS fees are generally less expensive than PSA, but vary depending on the service selected.

CGC (Certified Guaranty Company)

About: CGC primarily focuses on comics and other collectibles, but also offers authentication services for Pokémon cards. Fees vary based on the card value and service selected. CGC uses a grading scale from 1 to 10 and provides detailed sub-grading.

Fees: CGC's fees start at $12 per card, and fees and processing times vary depending on the service level.

JSA (James Spence Authentication)

About: JSA specializes in signature authentication and partners with CGC to provide authentication and encapsulation services for signed cards.

Fees: JSA's fees are typically calculated in conjunction with CGC's service fees, depending on the type of card submitted and the service selected.

CCIC (China Certification & Inspection Group)

About: CCIC primarily provides inspection and certification services, but has less involvement in card authentication in the collectibles sector. However, CCIC's certification services play an important role in the Chinese market, particularly in other areas of inspection and certification.

Fees: CCIC's fees for card authentication are less public, but fees for its other services generally vary depending on the inspection and service selected.

TAG Grading

Background: TAG Grading was founded by Steve Kass, a sports memorabilia collector with over 65 years of experience. After observing the inconsistencies of traditional grading services, Kass dedicated himself to developing a more accurate and consistent grading system.

Technology and Process: TAG uses a fully automated grading system that combines machine learning and advanced imaging technology to reduce human bias and ensure consistent grading. Cards are evaluated based on factors such as corners, edges, surfaces, and alignment, and a detailed report is provided for each card.

Fees:

TAG V: Verifies card authenticity without grading, priced between $8 and $12 per card.

TAG X: Provides a standard grading scale of 1 to 10, priced between $12 and $15 per card.

TAG S: Includes a precise 1000-point grade and a detailed DIG report, priced between $24 and $30 per card.

Authentication Process
Initial Evaluation: After the customer submits their card, it undergoes a preliminary inspection and evaluation to estimate its likely grade.

Choose an Authentication Company and Service: Based on the card's value and expected grade, select the appropriate authentication company and service options.

Ship Card: Send the card to an authentication company for a formal evaluation.

Wait for the Authentication Results: The authentication company will notify the customer upon completion of the evaluation and return the card.
